Restaurants in The Daintree

From Daintree Village to Cow Bay to Cape Tribulation, the Daintree has quite a choice in restaurants and other places to eat.
Many resorts have restaurants, often in rainforest settings, open to the public, and there are also cafes and take aways for a more simple bite.

WHET - Cape Tribulation

Dining on the deck at Whet in Cape Tribulation

Cape Tribulation's favourite restaurant, open all day from 10:00 in the morning, with lunch, dinners, tapas and award winning cocktails till 22.00
This place is a favourite stop with the day trippers that cruise up and down from Port Douglas in their hire cars.
Easy to find just after the Welcome To Cape Tribulation sign on the main road in Cape Tribulation between Cape Trib shop and PK's Jungle Village.
Whet also has a small cinema upstairs showing movies at 14:00, 16:00 and 20:00, probably Australia's comfiest cinema with 25 seats of beanbags and recliners, and you can even take your drinks in! $15.- entry fee or only $10.- if you dine there as a movie-meal-deal!

CAPE TRIB BEACH HOUSE - Cape Tribulation

You'll be tempted each day by a variety of delicious, excellent value and good quality meals. Try the marinated kangaroo. The menu for breakfast, lunch and dinner offers a healthy vegetarian option. Only 20m from the bar, bistro and pool deck is the pristine Cape Tribulation beach.
Find the Beachhouse about 4 km. north of the Cape Tribulation towncentre up the unsealed Bloomfield Track, elderly people please note there is a 400 metre walk on a hill from the carpark to the restaurant by the beach.

Currently closed for remodelling

CASSOWARY CAFE - Cape Tribulation

On Camelot Close, and directly across from the Dragonfly is Cassowary Cafe, a restaurant in Ferntree Resort. They mainly do pizza and pasta, but there is also steak and fish, and take aways. Good choice to dine on clear starry nights as many tables are outside.

PK'S JUNGLE VILLAGE - Cape Tribulation

Breakfast is served from 7am to 10.30am. Lunch is from 11am to 2.00pm. Dinner is from 6.30 - 8pm from a blackboard menu to suit all tastes, including a vegetarian option. Some serious drinking and loud music go on here many nights, but they have cancelled the cane toad races.

BOARDWALK CAFE - Cape Tribulation

All the usual take away stuff here at this place just opposite PK's Jungle Village.

MASON'S CAFE - Cape Tribulation

Attached to the Cape Tribulation shop/tourist information, this cafe does not only the usual take aways, sandwiches, burgers, pizza and some good coffee, but has a spectacular collection of exotic meats such as boar, crocodile, emu, kangaroo etc. Just next to this cafe is the crystal clear 'croc-free' swimming hole in Myall Creek, and there is a deck and licensed bar area overlooking the rainforest and Mount Hemnant.

CAFE-ON-SEA - Thornton's Beach

Enjoy casual beachfront dining at Thornton Beach with views of the Coral Sea and surrounding rainforest ranges, where the rainforest meets the reef. 20 Minutes north of the Daintree River Ferry and 1 hour north of Port Douglas. Open for Breakfast, Lunch and early Dinner. Fresh baked cakes, muffins and biscuits for morning and afternoon tea. Lavazza Espresso coffee. Coldest Beer, quality wines by the glass.

This is a restaurant in a small lodge so book in advance to avoid disappointment, excellent food in a rainforest setting surrounded by fan palms.

On The Turps is the name of the in-house restaurant of this resort, and it has a stunning setting overlooking Cooper Creek.

The restaurant serves tasty, home style meals at good value prices. Start the day with either a continental or fully cooked breakfast, a healthy lunch menu and the dinner menu varies daily with vegetarians catered for.

FANPALM CAFE - Cooper Creek

A small cafe just off the main road, they also have a privately owned boardwalk through the majestic fan palm forest. Closed last time I checked but this place tends to come and go.

Provides breakfast, lunch and dinner in the bistro.

The treetop environment centre has a cafe which does excellent coffee, sandwiches, muffins etc.
