Thornton Beach is a small community on the road
between the Daintree river and Cape Tribulation with only a dozen or
so houses on a beautiful beach.
There are only two accommodation choices here, Thornton Beach Bungalows
and Thornton Beach House, which are both on the same property, only
steps away from the beach and the cafe.
The small island of Struck Rock offshore from the beach adds
to the scenic beauty of this pristine stretch of coast line.
Thornton Beach is located in the heart of the Daintree
National Park about half an hour north of the Daintree river and fifteen
minutes south of Cape Tribulation.
You can go for a walk along this beach, but don't swim in Cooper Creek
at the south end of the beach, this is where the croc spotting tour
spots all the big crocodiles.
There is a cafe on this beach where you can stop for lunch or a coffee.
This is also the base for Cape Tribulation Wilderness Cruises that runs
crocodile spotting trips on Cooper Creek 300 metres south of here.
